Looking back to my younger years—I'm amazed at how nothing turned out the way I planned. We live a carefree life thinking we know it all, but it isn't until we mature into our 40's that we completely understand. We finally get it!
If I could go back in time and hang out with my younger-self, for ONE day, here’s what I would tell her:
Listen to mom. She really does know what she's talking about. Tell her you love her and appreciate her for everything because there's no one on earth who loves you more than she does... you just don't know it yet.
Moisturize your skin, especially your face. And use lots of sunscreen to protect yourself so when you're 47, you look like you're 35... you just don't know it yet.
That boy you cried for because "he was the one"—trust me, he's not... you just don't know it yet.
Exercise; take care of your health. The benefits you reap from staying healthy and fit in your 20's, will be even more rewarding 20 years later... you just don't know it yet.
Educate yourself; and I don't necessarily mean college. Read books, open the bible, take in a newspaper, learn current events. Learn, for you are your future children's best teacher... you just don't know it yet.
Travel north, south, east and west; even abroad, if possible. Don't be so quick to settle down; one day you'll be married with children and there may not be enough time... you just don't know it yet.
If your dad wants to teach you how to change a tire, do it! Valuable lessons equal the greatest lessons... you just don't know it yet.
Don't be so preoccupied with your friends. Most, if not all of those same people will eventually find their own way and leave... you just don't know it yet.
Learn to cook. It's one of the best skills you will ever carry through life... you just don't know it yet.
Don't be so hard on yourself. The biggest mistake you can make is not making mistakes at all; it's going to be ok... you just don't know it yet.
Now, it's 2017; with everything I've learned... what would I tell my future-self?
Never stop learning, you will never know too much.
Never stop teaching, you can always help someone.
Inspire others, people may need what you have to give.
Show love, even if people don't show it back.
