Isn’t it beautiful?

We get to decide who we spend our days with. Who we listen to, what we read, who we believe, learn from, and even follow.

I follow people who inspire me, no matter the age. Good people. Smart people. Quiet people. Those who make me laugh. The ones who can put a smile on my face when I didn’t even know I needed one.

And I also, intentionally, follow people who are different from me. People with different political views. People of different religions and ethnicities. People whose experiences are completely out of my realm.

After all, how boring would life be, if everyone in my path was just like me?

But I tend to [unfollow] people who stir up strife; whether it’s in my life or someone else’s. I don't have time for that.

And honestly, there are some people I don’t follow, even though their views align with mine. Someone who thinks like you doesn’t necessarily have an impact over you.

Isn’t it beautiful?

We get to decide who we spend our days with. Who we listen to, what we read, who we believe, learn from, and even follow.

As we begin this new year, with so many things happening in the world, be very picky; discerning. Think about the opinions of those you let in; the opinions that grow roots.

You know, sometimes it’s good to give ourselves an internet timeout.

Maybe it's time to create a little space in your corner of the net. A [new season] of unfollowing anyone, even family, who taps into your anxiety. Those who push negativity. The people who attempt to carry bitterness in their lives and strive to bring it into yours.

Then consider adding people who are brave. Nice people too. People who don’t look like you, act or even think like you; but empower you to be more courageous and strong. The people who teach you, because there will always be someone smarter than you.

The internet is a tool; we get to decide how to use it for our own good. And people are its vessels. Who we allow in, is up to us.

I’m learning too.
