WHAT INSPIRES ME

If you've learned anything about me throughout the years—even if you don't know me personally but keep up with my blog—you know I love my boys. Motherhood completely reinvented my 20's and although, at the time, a mere baby myself, I learned really fast what responsibility meant.

I also love reading books. So when one of my most favorite humans wrote a sweet auto-biography, The Woman I Wanted to BeI knew I had to read it.

Diane von Fürstenberg is her name and she happens to be one of the most influential, admired, and colorful women of our time.

As stated in her book:

Diane von Fürstenberg started with a suitcase full of jersey dresses and an idea of who she wanted to be—in her words, “The kind of woman who is independent and who doesn’t rely on a man to pay her bills.” She has since become that woman, establishing herself as a major force in the fashion industry, all the while raising a family that she calls her greatest creations, her children.

Her book is truly inspiring; maybe because I see a lot of myself in Diane—in her never-ending ambition, her compassion for others, her independence, her motherhood goals—whatever it may be, she genuinely moves me.

One of the most compelling things she wrote in her book, for me, was found in Chapter 2LOVE. This passage was so inspirational, so meaningful, so movingI GOT IT!!! So much so, I wrote the entire paragraph on a piece of paper and framed it. To this day, the frame sits in my bedroom. I hope you take the time to read it. It'll show you a piece of my heart and a little bit of who I am.
